Vacation Picked.....we are hitting the beach!

I am beyond excited that we are packing up the car and hitting the beach. We had a half and half summer here. The first half stunk but the last half is full of catch up. It was the last weekend in July and the first great weekend Princess wasn't sick (are you sick of hearing that yet) and we went outside to enjoy the nice weather just when a big ol rain cloud covered our home and sent sheets of rain to us. We tried to look on the bright side and decided that we can play on the porch when sheets of rain came inside giving us all a shower. Princess had a great time but hubby and I looked at each other and said "we need to get out of here". We put Princess to bed (after a real shower) and grabbed the laptop, bottle of wine and hit the net. We finally decided that we needed to leave our home and go on a proper vacation to Ocean City, MD. We went there once for a friends wedding and heard so many great things so let's book it!! Can't wait to hit the beach, pool and crab shacks! Let's hope the 1st Smith Family vacation will be a hit!

Brotha and Fam come to visit! July 2010

My Brotha and SIL Wahlberg stopped by unexpectedly from their trip to Hershey to say Hello! We were so happy to see our fam. Well, I was in NYC when I got the call and ran home like Steve Martin from Trains, Planes and Autos. It was close and I almost didn't make it but hell have no fury like an aunt on a mission. We had a great time during a quick visit.

Side note: The following day we went to a friends house for dinner where I thought I lost my engagement ring. I was already set for a mini nervous breakdown that day trying to deal with work and motherhood (seriously, I forgot to put makeup on, I NEVER do that) when I realized right before dinner my ring was missing. We searched high and low and eventually called it an early night so we could continue the search. Hubs played it cool but then lost it after he tore apart the garbage bags. I woke up the next morning with a pit in my stomach realizing that I will never have a piece of jewelry that nice ever again. Besides that I was upset that this was a symbol of the new start of our life together. Hubs replied with "are you joking, do you know how much I paid for that ring, do you know how long I had to save for that". Sooooooooooooo, symbolism out the window, Hubs left the house white as a ghost on a mission to buy a metal detector when low and behold my friend called informing me the ring was under my chair the entire night. Thank goodness the cat didn't eat it, or her son since kids put everything in their mouths. Hubs drove over to pick it up and when he returned I asked him to put it on my finger again and ask me the same question he asked 6 years ago, he replied with "get out of here, clear head, be grateful its back". Ahhhh, that's the big lug I married. Life is back to normal!

Play dates with friends Summer 2010

The summer is winding down and I can't believe how much we packed in considering we were out of commission for several weeks. We were able to have some of our friends come over for a play date. Boys and girls came over to play while the mommies lunched and caught up on life. The kids had a great time and Princess did share her special chair with her guy friend for a bit but then realized he was taking up prime time real estate so Princess gently nudged him off. Boy friend was quite the gentleman and found another chair that worked for him.

I'm so happy that not only am I able to still keep in touch with my friends from childhood and college but it is an added bonus that our kids can get play together. Hopefully they will be long time friends too!

Kiki's Bridal Shower

Okay, let me just start by saying that my camera died pretty quickly and I didn't know princess would match the flower girls. I know, I know, you don't believe me but hand to God I am serious!

While preparing for the nuptials of Kiki it was time to shower the bride to be with items she can cook, clean and make a happy home. Yeah right! Why is it that we are in 2010 and the bride to be isn't showered with ipads and other items to make her life complete so she can order out, hire the cleaning lady, deliver dry cleaning etc!

We had a beautiful time at Kiki's shower. We were able to see so many of Kiki's family we haven't seen in a long time + meet some of the grooms crew.

Princess (yet again) had a fabulous time meeting new kids and helping them out with the gifts. Did she take a moment to wrap up her baby doll in bubble wrap. I knew that she thought it was a blanket but the guests thought it was very "Dexter-like" of her"

I'm sorry that my camera died!! We will have more pics at the wedding!

Giddy Up.....its Hoe Down Day!

The daycare we send Princess to is great with "Theme Weeks". Well, during the summer I found out the theme for the week related to rodeos, cowboys/girls and Texas. I picked up a letter in Princess's cubbie that she was to come to school in full rodeo attire. It just so happened that I had a trip planned to Texas and I knew I would find something for my little cowgirl to wear.

Apparently not everyone in Texas wears jeans, cowboy hats, spurs with a piece of straw hangin' out of their mouth. Where did I get that impression???? Hollywood did it again.

Anyway, while at the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport I found this little diddy that would work for my girl. She also had a cowgirl hat to wear but refused to wear it until she walked in to school.

Side Note: I don't think she realizes her mother is a nut who will search high and low until she fulfills all of her child's needs. Do they ever?????
