Christmas Weekend with the Griswald's (my family)

Well, the pups are packed for a weekend at the puppy spa, the presents are piled in the car and it looks like Matt and I are off to the Empire State to celebrate the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ!

I love car rides! We just load up the ipod with our favorite songs, pack some snacks and stop at Wendy's for some lunch. I like to take this time to talk to Hubby, update him with any important info, talk about the holidays, future events, work, trips, favorite movie lines and usually 30 minutes into the trip Hubby will ask me if I'm tired yet and want to take a nap. I love car rides, especially this one since he will be stuck with me for 4-5 hours!

Hubby and I headed to upstate NY for a weekend Christmas celebration with my parents, siblings, nieces and nephews.  The hosts for the weekend....Brotha, Wahlberg (we will call her that since she is in love with Donny from NKOTB), Boo and K-man....are they ready!?!

Everyone arrived Saturday afternoon with Christmas cheer from ear to ear! The gracious hosts welcomed everyone with glasses full of wine, cheese and crackers by the platter and presents nestled under the tree for all the boys and girls (puppies too!). The hosts neglected to inform us that "lake effect snow" means piles and piles of snow spread across the land. Don't get me wrong, it is beautiful but we were shocked at the amount of snow already on the ground. I guess the hosts are use to their new surroundings already. Thank goodness for the snow because the kids were able to build their very own Frosty the Snowman with a corncob pipe and a button nose and two eyes made out of coal.

The adults settled into the kitchen for a long afternoon that stretched into the evening full of drinks and goodies!

Brotha and Wahlberg outdid themselves with a 7 fish dinner. What Christmas holiday would be complete without fish sautéed, baked, fried, steamed, broiled and chilled? At one point I thought Bubba was going to sit down at the table to explain the 1,0001 ways to prepare fish. It was truly outstanding, and we still had pasta to eat!

After awakening from a food coma we continued the holiday festivities and exchanged presents. I think the kids really enjoyed all of their new toys, skates, games and clothes. My nephew J (lets call him Screech) seems to enjoy all of his gifts, that or he really should become an actor, he definitely knows how to work a camera. Everyone was more than generous with the adult grab bag. I personally love my new puffy vest and scarf, very sheik for hitting the dog parks! Hubby was surprised this year with his very own bottle of Patron Tequila. Hubby is usually a gift card kind of guy but Brotha surprised Hubby with his own bottle! After the exchange we played some games, talked and enjoyed some desserts. It was a wonderful evening full of laughs, stories and memories to last a lifetime!

Oh, and you thought that was all that happened at the hosts home? No, no. Brotha and Hubby decided to open the bottle of Patron and act like 21 year olds. Hubby wanted Brotha to experience life as a frat boy and Cha Cha (my sister's husband) acted as the chaperone to all "the kids". My sister and I watched as the boys became giddy as schoolgirls. I think the night started taking a turn for the worse when Cha Cha questioned the distance to the nearest casino and Hubby kept commenting that they could easily kill the bottle.  My sister and I finally informed them that they were going to drink themselves into a disease when Hubby belted out, "This Patron is the good stuff, and if this was Jose Cuervo the cops would be here"

Merry Christmas to all and a few more Christmas events to attend!

Thank you Brotha, Wahlberg, Boo and K-man for opening your home to Cousin Eddy and crew for a weekend full of craziness. Can't wait for next year!
