Florence and Pisa

Florence, finally! This is the city that I wanted to visit. We arrived on Friday, our last stop in Italy (so sad) and traveled 2 hours to get to Florence. We rode through Tuscany and it was beautiful, something out of a movie! When we arrived in Florence we went to the Piazza del Duomo, Piazza della Signoria and Ponte Vecchio. Translation - churches, squares and shopping! We saw the David (well, not really, just the replica) and hit a few museums and churches and graves of Michelangelo and Galileo. We stopped for some gelato (yum-yum) and espresso while strolling the streets for leather handbags and shoes!!

After lunch we boarded our bus and headed to Pisa and the Miracle Square. Okay, have to admit, I didn't know that the Leaning Tower was originally made to function as a bell tower next to the church - I told you this trip was informative. We did go to the famous Leaning Tower and tested our strength to see if we could hold it up - wow, we are strong!! (Side note, Hubby thought this was stupid and almost had a temper tantrum when I asked him to push the tower)

After Pisa we headed back to the ship for some much needed sleep and showers. We had a great dinner on board at Mama's Italian Restaurant and retired early after visiting our local watering hole, the Cigar Bar!
