Hubby and I headed North for K-man's Communion Party, that was held Memorial Day weekend. We were very excited to celebrate this important Catholic event in his life. I mean, let's face it, once you receive the body of Christ you are A OK in JC's book. We were so excited to celebrate this monumental event at my brotha's home full of food, drinks and of course, A BOUNCE HOUSE!
Hubby and I drove up on Friday to meet my parents for dinner (at 4pm, that's how they roll these days - kidding, it was 5pm) at Lock 24 or 41, I don't know. I think my brotha lives on or near the Erie Canal!?! Well, I know nothing and Hubby should probably step in now but he is building or painting something so I can't break him free but anywho, I am digressing, they live near or on one of the 5 H.O.M.E.S lakes and apparently there is a lock on it so you need special permission to go through. LONG story short we ate dinner at a restaurant that is near an important body of water, who is related to someone, who ate dinner with someone, who once cooked for someone who once was dating someone who knows this body of water.
OKAY, all kidding aside, The village is located on the Seneca River, which flows through the village, through the historic downtown area and forms a section of the Erie Canal. Its 24th lock sports a local restaurant which is popular for guests. Really? Do I make myself clear? I am truly an intelligent person. Seriously, that is not from me, it is from wikipedia
if you have any questions, comments, concerns or vacationing interests, please let me know.
LONG, LONG story short, we checked into our hotel and went out for dinner at Lock 24 (now I know). The dinner was fabulous and we even spotted some seniors (H.S.) from the local high school, posing for pics near this famous body of water. I mean, I know that I haven't been in H.S for a few year (13 but who is counting) but the girls nowadays wear colors that we only drank. They wore Mandarin Orange, Lime Green, Baybreeze Pink, you get the idea. They were a lovely bunch but I did get my giggles on once I spotted the K-Fed wannabes, from the fellas (shout-outs) wearing the white tux, white tails, white canes shouting Hallllllllla!. I am sure that they all had an amazing time. We had a wonderful meal so everyone in B-ville (that's what the locals call it) had a great time! We retired early so Mom, Dad and Matt could get their sleep on (not together, what are you thinking) while I downloaded and created play-lists for the upcoming Communion festivities. I single handledly picked out some folk towns along with ABBA, Akon, Beatles, Christina Aguilera, David & Golitah, that's just the ABC's
We woke to a beautiful, windy morning and quickly ran to dress for the big day! My dad thought it was necessary to spend approximately 3 hours washing the windows on his car (that is his thing, what can I say, he is somewhat OCD but I don't think he knows it yet). Okay, so we drove to the newly Communied boy's house and braced ourselves for the day. The house was decorated beautifully with tables, flowers, decorations and the ever lovely "Bounce House". Really, it doesn't matter what my age is, I always look at my competition and size them up, I love bounce houses. (I even changed into more comfortable clothing - you can tell that I am married)
We had a glorious (my favorite word) day, full of food, drinks and friends/family we haven't seen in years! Our family/friends came from Watkins Glen, NY. Longer story short, our parents met, they had kids the same age, we visited several times a year from the time I was 7-14 and refer to them as family. We also had visits from our "cousins" Bernie, Christine, Skylar and Jillian (our mom's were best friends) which was a big surprise. Side note, we didn't ask Brotha and SIL about the guest list, they showed up and surprised us! The day was so much fun. Everyone had a great time. We met there new new friends and had so much fun hanging out and celebrating K-man's big day.
Okay, as a member of the K family, we always have a good time but it seems that we have a good time when no one is looking. After everyone left, Brotha and Hubby thought it was a good idea to light the fire (I did too) but that quickly got out of hand. My dad egged all of them on, the boys (my nephews) thought it was great that Uncle Hubby was burning boxes, Nanny screamed that SIL may get mad that her house may blow up, my sister was busy yelling at her kids, Cha Cha was making rope knots in the yard and I kept waiting for the good times to roll. Before I knew it, the kids were having a great time, Nanny was getting aggravated at all of us, SIL and baby (in uterine) were wondering when the hell everyone would calm down for the night, my sister was laughing her arse off, Brotha licked her arm to really pi$$ her off and we taught Screech how to do "The Stump" dance. For the record, Hubby was climbing the house looking for loose shingles to throw in the fire. We had a great time and K-man embraced the body of our Lord, Jesus Christ into his life...........that's all that matters!! Good times had by all : )
