Did somebody say L U A U?

It's that time of the year again........The Smith Annual BBQ. This year we decided to add a fun summer theme. So what better why to celebrate the beginning of summer then with some grass skirts and tiki torches, It's Luau Time!

It never fails, whenever we have a party that is partially outdoors it ALWAYS rains! It started on our wedding day, the biggest party we've thrown. Just when we needed to go outside and take some pics at the Manor (beautiful grounds) it rained! So, keeping with tradition it rained the morning of the Luau. I'm not talking summer showers, I'm talking full sheets of rain until early afternoon. (not sure why I have rambled so much about the weather?). Oh, needless to say some of the Luau activities were cancelled due to inclement weather. Hopefully next year we can play games outside on the rolling hills (they're not rolling, just saying that for dramatic effect).

We had a great time, we didn't have a pig for the Luau. I am wondering if it really was a Luau, no pig, no limbo, just a party w/ me wearing flowers in my hair. I really wanted to roast a pig but whenever I told anyone my idea they would have that look on their face, almost like smelling the mushroom farms for the first time (it's really bad). Everyone acted as if presenting a whole pig with an apple in his mouth is a bad idea. Thoughts of Wilbur and Babe popped into everyone's head and all of a sudden they are animal activists, Save a Pig. Hello Bacon, have you had some today? Ham sandwiches, BLTs, Hamburger (oh, not the same thing, that was a Jessica Simpson moment) stop the bleeding hearts people! Anywho, we opted out of the pig roast but don't worry, in a few years we will bring back the Luau complete w/ grass skirts and pigs! Before you know it you will be elbow deep with BBQ dripping from your face snorting like mommy's little piggy!

We welcomed new friends and babies, I can't believe how fast some of you are multiplying. The living room turned into a Day Care Center, I stayed clear of that place (kidding) while everone else played games and laughed day into night. Some of the kids spent their time blowing bubbles. Oh the bubbles! Loads of fun but loads of slippery pavement, watch your arse next time when the bubbles are out. You may slide across the floor and end up with your arse in a planter with a twisted ankle. Again, loads of fun but seriously, watch the bubbles.

Until next year party goers. Thanks for coming and hopefully we will see you next year. I wonder what next year's theme will be?
