Puppy play date

Barney and Kelcey made some neighborhood friends! Well, I should say that Kelcey has a crush on Max, a Vizsla who lives around the corner from us. We always know when Max is outside because Kelcey runs around the house crying for him. It is very dramatic, similar to Romeo and Juliet. "Max, I love you, please come for me". Not sure of Max's feelings for Kelcey. I have to say, he plays it cool, hard-to-get kind of dog. It is very sweet, actually it is funny to see such a hairy beast in love with a smooth, lean pup. For awhile I kept telling Kelcey, "look, he's just not that into you. I think he may be looking for his own kind or maybe a Weimaraner". Until one day, I heard Max crying outside in his backyard looking over towards Kelcey. Who knows what will happen. Max and Kelcey will lay in their backyards looking at each other from afar. Barney usually stands near Kelcey with his head cocked to the side, probably thinking, "this is stupid, you are too young for love". Barney is very level-headed and realistic. Kelcey is a dreamer, already picked out her wedding dress and bridesmaids without having a date first. Anyway, Kelcey and Barney are making friends.

Roxie is another neighborhood friend. She is a spunky Rottweiler with lots of love to give. You can tell that she is the leader of the gang. Roxie's mom E invited all of us over for a play date. Okay, so I am one of those overprotective mom's, pain in the butt, always running after her kids or yelling at them. Truth be told, my pups know nothing, well, Kelcey doesn't know anything. I am always a little nervous in new areas with the dogs because my dogs will run away. Anna Nicole Kelcey is quick and I don't think she takes the time to realize she doesn't have a clue as to where she is and gets lost. Not sure what Barney would do.

Okay, digressing a bit. E invited Barney, Kelcey and MAX (say it ain't so)over for a play date. Max's mom and I went over to hang out with E and her new baby GiGi! GiGi is ADORABLE, she is such a happy baby. She sat in her stroller or in her swing seat just watching the dogs. The funniest part of the day was when E moved GiGi into her stroller and started squeaking some of her toys. Every single pup crowded around her carriage in hopes that she would throw something. They were all great with her.

The pups played and played. Roxie is definitely the mom of the group, making sure everyone stays in line. She actually is a great hostess. I finally relaxed after an hour and realized that my dogs wouldn't run away. My pups are weird (probably because of me) because they spent a portion of their day sitting against a fence. I need to socialize them more and teach them more commands.

Overall, it was a great day. Barney got sprayed by accident from Max. That will teach Barney to move out of the way when a pup is about to lift his leg. Not sure that Barney actually felt it on his head since he has so much hair. He did look a little embarrassed but he lived to talk about it. Kelcey was able to see Max and spend some time running in the yard with him. Barney hung out with Roxie and spent a nice, quiet afternoon with her.

Thanks for the play date Max and Roxie, the pups had fun. Until next time!
