Sorry that I have neglected my duties updating all of you with the Smith Family happening's!
I left off with Barney's 2nd birthday in January and boy does time fly! Overall things have been quiet here but every once in a while, drama and/or comedy (depends if you are a glass half full/empty kind of person) knocks on our door.
Just a refresher...Barney had his tooth extracted between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Not sure how he broke his tooth, it still remains a mystery. Barney was knocked out for the surgery and an IV was inserted into his left front paw. It was a very dramatic day for me. When I picked him up from the vet, he stumbled into the waiting room looking for his mommy as if he was blind. His nose was in the air and kept moving his head around. If he could speak the drama pup would say, "Mom, is that you, where are you?" Sooooo, the stressful tooth removal surgery was a success.
LONG story short, his IV left a scab behind and Barney being Barney couldn't leave the scab alone, picked it and bled all over the house. A call to the vet, short drive to the animal hospital and low and behold Barney was coned! He wore the cone for 2 weeks and I have to say, he did a great job. We did have to move some furniture around since Barney couldn't get through tight corners and Kelcey literally jumped out of the way when Barney walked through the door for the first time. She had that look on her furry face, "Good Lord, that vet is amazing, she was able to install a megaphone around your head, now the entire neighborhood can hear you bark". Barney is, how shall I say this, kind of a barker. I am sure he aggravates all of my neighbors and I do apologize for this. His new cone acted as a magical mega-cone, radiating his bark throughout the land!
Hopefully Barney learned his lesson, not the easy way to learn a lesson but he did it Barney's way!
