At home grooming

If asked about the negative part of owning Bearded Collies I would say grooming. I love my pups, I treat them as human beings but I hate grooming them. That isn't fair to say. Kelcey is great. She is a typical girl, likes to keep her locks soft and smooth (probably for Max). Kelc will sit down, calm as can be, while we are brushing her and de-matting her. She will place her paw in your hand, ready for her mani and pedi. She always looks at Hubby as if she wants to sit back and gossip, Hubby isn't into that so Kelcey just sits there and stares at him.

Barney is a nightmare! He hates when anyone touches, brushes, de-mattes, looks at him, you get the idea. Grooming is SUCH a challenge with him and Russ, our God of a Groomer, is not coming for a house visit until the end of the month. I did buy Barney a muzzle so we can get into a grooming routine with him. Usually it takes both of us to groom him. One grooms and the other sits next to him with string cheese in both hands singing the Barney song. You know the song, the theme from the Mickey Mouse club. B-a-r-n-e-y, Barney, Kelcey too, Barney, you get the idea. We usually have a good 3-5 minutes of distraction in order to run a brush and de-matter through his coat.

This particular weekend, Hubby and I hung out around the house getting some cleaning done and spending time with the pups. Hubby spent some time with Kelcey brushing her and getting her all prettied-up! Barney just sat back and watched. After a long day the pups passed out from all the grooming. They are sweet pups!
